In the very heart of Istria, lies the Motovun forest, a rich forest area that hides one of the most precious fruits of the country - truffles. There is Livade, small town that is home for ‘Days of Zigante Truffles’ a unique 10 weekend event.
During the fair, every autumn, from spetember till november, all guests are able to taste truffles and other tastes of Istrian specialties. We enjoyed in excellent cheese and truffle oil, as well as tartufata and salami that we took home as a souvenir.
Also, at the fair there were other Istrian producers with their products, and we were so happy when we saw the Alden products that every year, especially for Christmas Eve we enjoy in their salt-cod paté (croatian bakalar na bjanko) wich is the best we ever tried.
If youll be near Livade and if you are one of the truffle fans like I am, or you are on the right track to become as my Kiki, then Livade is a great place for you.
This year the fair is open till November 19, 2017.
Thank you for reading and enjoy in truffles as often as you can.
